The Major Taylor Iron Riders Racing Team is the racing arm of The Major Taylor Iron Riders Club (MTIR). The racing team was created to help bring additional exposure to the club. The Major Taylor Iron Riders Club is the New York branch of the nation wide Major Taylor Association. The club is an African-American operated cycling club designed to celebrate the late Major Taylor, the first African-American cycling World Champion who broke the color line in the 1900’s. At the present time the racing team is a sub-team of Century Road Club Association (CRCA) one of America’s oldest and largest racing clubs. Our mission like the club is to promote the camaraderie of road and track racing competition to the minority community.
“The strength of the team is each individual member...the strength of each member is the team.” —Phil Jackson
